Thanks for considering Rocky Street for your music. We’re an independent distribution platform — you keep full ownership of your work, and we handle hosting, streaming, and sales. Before you submit, please read through the guidelines below. Submissions that don’t meet these standards will be sent back with notes, so a quick read now saves you a round trip later.
By submitting, you’ll also be asked to agree to our Artist Distribution & Submission Agreement — take a look at that too if you haven’t already.
What We Accept
- Original music that you own or have full rights to distribute (see the Agreement for details on rights and warranties)
- Any genre — we’re not curating by style, just by quality and rights clearance
- Singles, EPs, and full albums
- Remixes and covers only if you can show the necessary clearance/license — we will ask for documentation
We do not accept:
- Content that infringes someone else’s copyright (samples, stems, or full tracks used without a license)
- AI-generated music presented as human-performed without disclosure
- Hate speech, harassment, or content that targets individuals or groups
- Low-effort or placeholder uploads (e.g., silence, test files, duplicate re-uploads of rejected tracks without changes)
Audio File Requirements
| Requirement | Spec |
|---|---|
| Preferred format | WAV, 16-bit or 24-bit |
| Minimum accepted format | MP3, 320kbps CBR |
| Sample rate | 44.1kHz or 48kHz |
| Loudness | Aim for around -14 LUFS integrated (standard streaming target) — we won’t reject slightly outside this, but avoid heavy over-compression or clipping |
| File naming | ArtistName_TrackTitle.wav — no special characters |
Please upload a final, mastered version. We don’t do mastering or audio cleanup on your behalf — if a track sounds unfinished or has technical issues (clipping, dropouts, phase problems), it’ll be sent back with notes.
Artwork Requirements
- Size: minimum 3000 x 3000px, square
- Format: JPG or PNG
- Content: must be original or licensed for commercial use — no unlicensed images, no copyrighted characters/logos, no ripped album art
- Avoid excessive text beyond the track/release title and your artist name
Metadata We Need
For every track:
- Track title (exact, as it should display)
- Artist name (exact, as it should display)
- Genre and up to 3 sub-genre/mood tags
- Release date (if this is tied to a specific drop)
- Writer/composer credit(s)
- Producer credit(s), if applicable
- ISRC code, if you have one (not required — we can guide you on this if not)
- Explicit content flag: yes/no
Incomplete metadata is one of the most common reasons submissions get sent back — please fill in everything you have.
Explicit Content
If your track contains explicit language, flag it as explicit during submission. We display this to listeners; we don’t reject explicit content, but mislabeling it will get a submission returned.
Review Process
- Submit through your artist dashboard — audio, artwork, and metadata all in one form.
- Review — our team checks for rights, technical quality, and complete metadata. This typically takes 7 business days.
- Outcome — you’ll get an email either way:
- Approved — your track goes live and appears in your artist profile and the relevant genre pages.
- Needs changes — we’ll tell you specifically what to fix (usually metadata or audio quality) and you can resubmit.
- Rejected — reserved for rights issues or content that violates these guidelines. We’ll explain why.
Resubmitting
If your submission needs changes, fix the specific issue noted and resubmit — there’s no penalty or cooldown for a normal revise-and-resubmit. Repeated submissions that ignore the same feedback, or that appear to be testing/spamming the review queue, may result in submission privileges being paused.
Questions?
Reach out to support@rockystreet.com before submitting if you’re unsure whether something fits — we’d rather answer a quick question than send back a submission.
