How our meditation music is made
Some of the albums here are composed with these techniques. Each album’s tag shows which one it leans on.
Binaural Beats
A slightly different tone is played in each ear. The brain perceives the small difference between them as a slow, gentle pulse. Slower pulses (delta and theta) are often used for rest and sleep, alpha for calm focus. Best heard on headphones.
Delta • Theta • AlphaSolfeggio Tunings
A traditional set of tones, including 396, 417, 528, 639, 741 and 852 Hz, that meditation practitioners have long associated with different states of mind. We use them as a musical and contemplative tradition, not as a medical claim.
396 – 852 Hz432 Hz Tuning
Most modern music is tuned to A = 440 Hz. Some albums are tuned slightly lower, to A = 432 Hz, which many listeners describe as warmer and softer. It is a matter of taste and tradition.
A = 432 HzNatural Textures
Recorded rain, water, wind, fire and singing bowls are layered under the music. Slow, open sounds give the mind something gentle to rest on while the breath settles.
